The seal hunt of 2008 has been a public relations disaster for the province of Newfoundland and the government of Canada - more so than in many years. On March 28, 2008, the Canadian government refused observer permits to key European media and animal protection groups which raised suspicions of a cover up throughout Europe.

On March 29, 2008, the Canadian coast guard was responsible for the deaths of 4 sealers with their reckless negligence.

On April 11, 2008, the Canadian coast guard violently seized an unarmed Dutch registered observation boat belonging to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. This violent act of censorship has caused angry shockwaves throughout the European community.

Despite attempts to appease the European decision makers that this brutal slaughter is indeed "humane" by spinning a new slaughter method will be utilized, it was business and cruelty as usual this year as can be seen from HSUS and IFAW video footage.

The time is long overdue and we must encourage European decision makers to enact a permanent ban on all seal products worldwide.

Below is a way to directly reach national level politicians throughout Europe. It is important for national level politicians to hear from their own as well as people from other countries. The global perspective is one that politicians need to stay aware of.
